Capture serials, batches and made-to-order details while the stock is being handled.

Keep the exact unit, batch, measured quantity or customer item attached to the stock movement.

Serial numbers

  • Capture one serial for each individual unit
  • Show how many serials are still required
  • Validate preselected serials
  • Reject the wrong serial where substitution isn’t allowed
  • Record an explicit serial override where substitution is allowed
  • Part-pick and record the unfulfilled serialised quantity

Measured serialised products

Serial number stock records in Tall Emu

Some serialised stock is a roll, reel or other item where the serial identifies the source unit and the actual quantity is measured.

  • Scan the source reel or roll
  • Capture the actual cut length
  • Keep one serial row with its measured quantity
  • Update the picked quantity when an authorised substitute is used

Batches, lots and expiry

  • Show available batches and their locations
  • Pick a line from one batch or split it across several batches
  • Increase or reduce the quantity taken from each batch
  • Capture batch and expiry information during receiving
  • Retain the batch allocation against the shipment

Simple serial tracking

Tall Emu also supports a simpler model where the quantity is received normally and the exact serial number is captured when the unit is supplied to the customer.

Capture the serial at the point that suits the business, usually during picking or packing.

Made-to-order products

  • Receive a made-to-order product from the manufacturer
  • Dispatch it to the customer
  • Use a barcode that identifies the order, item and size or variant
  • Show the customer order the item belongs to
  • Reject a mismatched scan instead of accepting a similar-looking item
  • Use a separate made-to-order step when ordinary stock handling doesn’t fit

Capture the details while the stock is being handled

Serials, batches, measured items and made-to-order products stay attached to the stock movement.
