Content is always the challenge on a website. How to properly explain what you do, and how you do it.
We’re a small team. We’re busy. There’s always so much to do. I don’t like workshops. There were no meetings with agencies frantically trying to understand our business well enough to explain it. I wouldn’t have had the time anyway.
So we didn’t create this website the usual way.
We used the data we already had
Instead, we relied on the data we’ve captured in our CRM over the last few years: customer conversations, onboarding meetings, sales pitches, requests for help and even complaints.
For years, Tall Emu has been automatically capturing those conversations. Calls and meetings are transcribed. Emails are captured. Notes, support conversations and sales discussions are all there too.
That’s super useful information for day-to-day ops… but turns out, it’s reaaaaally useful when you want to update your website.

Years of intelligence, sitting in the CRM
We had years of incredibly useful intelligence sitting in our CRM. Questions people actually ask us. The problems they’re trying to solve. The things that confuse them. The things they care about. And the things we weren’t explaining very well (or at all).
Then we built the website around that.
Of course, actually turning all of that into a working website still required some outside help. Brendan at One Orange Cow handled the site build and execution for us.
So, thank you
If you’ve called us, met with us, emailed us, asked for help, complained about something, or explained some wonderfully strange business process to us…
And although you didn’t know it, you’re helping me build the interactive help in v3 of Tall Emu too, so I can make life easier for you as well.
