BluSky Products distributes high-quality marine and external products for flooring, lining, and upholstery applications. Their range includes tufted and nonwoven carpet, synthetic teak and waterproof timber planking, upholstery vinyl and fabrics, and PVC matting for the marine, motor home, caravan, automotive, transport, furniture, exhibition and display industries Australia wide.

Why BluSky Needed Tall Emu’s CRM?

To help BluSky’s overall business operations, Wayne was looking for an operating system that could replace traditional spreadsheets and other manual processes; and to improve other crucial aspects of the business, such as communication between internal teams and customer service.

    Unfortunately, much of the data that BluSky had on their customers was either incomplete or inaccessible. This was due to their legacy data being hidden within closed accounting files going back 10 years.
  • Manual and Slow Processes
    BluSky utilised manual processes across several key areas, which only impeded their business operations. For example, because BluSky staff relied heavily on Excel spreadsheets to physically check stock and call freight providers for pricing and consigning, everytime they needed to quote on the delivery cost of an order or to check if certain stock was available, it took a considerable amount of time and effort to obtain. 
  • Heavily Reliance on Excel Spreadsheet
    BluSky used a shared Excel spreadsheet which included all the prices of past jobs they had done. These prices weren’t up to date, and often the “from and to” weren’t journeys they had quoted on before.
    This would also mean their staff had to ask the warehouse team to get a quote from freight providers in order to pass the final price to the customer. It also depended on if staff were able to find a team member who could provide the price quickly.
  • Inadequate Inventory Management
    Because BluSky deals in rolls of carpet, they had to utilise a specific spreadsheet for managing their inventory, and this spreadsheet had to be kept separate from their accounting software in order to support their business requirements.

    We brought all the stock on hand into the CRM with their individual serial numbers for batch tracking, removing a need for all those spreadsheets! This enabled BluSky to quote quicker, or let customers know if they had to put something on back order etc.
  • Faster freight quoting and order consigning
    For freight management we enabled them to use the in-built freight quoting and consigning system, which again eliminated the hassle that came with maintaining an excel spreadsheet, and they now had real time quoting capabilities which further sped up the quoting and fulfilment process.
